Interface Terminology

A glossary of terms used throughout the Bogbrindl interface and its supporting documentation, with plain-language explanations of what each concept means in the context of the system.

Key concepts in the Bogbrindl system

The following terms appear in the platform's interface, documentation, and communications with the support team. Understanding these terms will help users navigate the system more effectively and frame their enquiries with appropriate precision.

Classification
The process by which the Bogbrindl system assigns individual items of information to defined categories. Classification is carried out using a combination of configured rule sets and AI-assisted sorting logic. When an item is classified, it is assigned to the category that best matches its content according to the system's current rules. Items that could plausibly belong to more than one category are assigned to their primary category, with any secondary relevance noted in the system's internal records.
Category
A defined grouping within the Bogbrindl information hierarchy. Categories are established by the system operator and correspond to distinct subject areas or information types. Each category may contain subcategories, which represent more specific divisions within the same broad area. Users navigate the system primarily by moving between categories and subcategories.
Entry
A single item of information within a category. An entry is the most granular unit of information in the system and is the level at which a user can access full detail. Each entry carries a category label, a source reference, and the content of the information itself. Entries within the same category are presented in a consistent format to allow comparison.
Review interface
The part of the Bogbrindl system through which users access and examine classified information. The review interface presents entries in a structured layout and provides controls for navigating between categories, moving between summary and detail views, and proceeding to the enquiry channel when necessary. The review interface is designed to be usable without configuration and does not require specialised knowledge to navigate.
Hierarchy
The organisational structure of the Bogbrindl system, from the top-level categories down to individual entries. The hierarchy has at least two levels (category and entry) and may include one or more subcategory levels depending on the breadth of content in a given area. The interface's navigational signposting reflects the user's current position within this hierarchy at all times.
AI-assisted sorting
A capability within the Bogbrindl interface that adjusts the display order of entries within a category based on relevance signals. AI-assisted sorting does not hide or remove entries; it re-orders them so that entries assessed as more contextually relevant to the current review task are presented more prominently. The sorting is advisory and can be overridden by the user in the interface settings.
Enquiry
A formal request submitted to the Bogbrindl support team through the contact form or by direct email. An enquiry may relate to a question about the system, a request for information about available categories, a classification concern, or a request to discuss access conditions. Enquiries are reviewed individually by the support team and are not processed automatically.
Access request
A type of enquiry in which the user requests permission or information relating to access to a specific part of the system or to a category of information that is not publicly available through the standard interface. An access request is not an application for a service and does not carry an assurance of any outcome. The support team reviews each access request and responds based on what the system can accommodate.
Navigational signposting
Visual and structural cues within the interface that show users where they are in the system's hierarchy and what options are available from their current position. Signposting includes breadcrumb-style location indicators, section summaries, and links to adjacent or parent categories. The purpose of signposting is to allow users to move through the system without losing their context.
Support team
The members of Bogbrindl Information Systems Ltd responsible for receiving and responding to enquiries, managing access requests, and maintaining the informational content of the platform. The support team can be reached through the Enquiry page or directly at [email protected].
Source reference
An attribution attached to each entry in the system that indicates the origin of the information contained in that entry. A source reference identifies where the information came from and, where relevant, when it was captured. The presence of a source reference does not imply that Bogbrindl has independently verified the accuracy of the referenced information.
Classification concern
A type of enquiry in which a user believes that a specific item of information has been assigned to an incorrect or inappropriate category. Classification concerns are reviewed by the support team and, where appropriate, result in a reclassification of the relevant entry. Users are encouraged to raise classification concerns through the standard enquiry channel rather than treating a perceived misclassification as an error in the underlying information itself.
